The first playable build

A tile-matching game, a generator that only deals boards you can clear, the classic Turtle, Heart and S boards, and the first tile skins.

Yila Mahjong became playable on 15 July 2026. The first build was a working tile-matching game with a board generator that only deals boards you can clear, and a lifetime score that never resets.

The generator builds each board backwards. It fills the layout, simulates clearing it from the top down, and gives matching faces to each removed pair, so the removal order it recorded is a real solution. A separate solver then re-checks every board before it is used.

The same day brought more. The classic 144-tile Turtle board arrived, along with a two-step rescue so a stuck board can always be saved for free. Heart and letter-S boards followed, with the first tile skins and a short first-time tutorial.

Clearable boards, free rescues and a score that never resets are still the heart of the game.

The game has changed since this note, so the best way to see it is to play a board.
