Smooth on phones

The board is drawn once and reused between animation frames, plus a new door-opening intro that glides into the tiles.

On 21 July 2026 the game became smoother on phones. The board is now drawn once to a hidden layer and reused between animation frames, and tile shadows and faces are prepared ahead of time, so animation stays light.

On touch screens the drawing detail is capped at 2 times the screen’s pixel density. A test of a 132-tile board on a desktop computer found an animation frame went from 23.9 milliseconds to about 0.004 milliseconds. Those are desktop numbers, not phone measurements.

The game was also tested on an Android phone and ran smoothly.

A new intro arrived the same day. At the start of a level the bamboo doors slide apart and the view gently zooms onto the tiles.

The game has changed since this note, so the best way to see it is to play a board.
